Obituary of Eileen Mary Lennon
Eileen Mary Lennon, age 61, of Breezy Point passed Monday, September 23, 2024 at home surrounded by her family after a 5-year battle with cancer. Eileen was born April 6, 1963, in Queens, NY. She is the daughter of the late James A. and the late Mary B. (nee Kerins) Lennon. Beloved mother to Caroline, Christopher and Grace Sanicola. Loving sister to Jeanne Rutter, Barbara (Rob) Sanicola, Edward (Donna) Lennon, James (Maria) Lennon, Daniel (Virginia) Lennon, Stephen (Maureen) Lennon and Timothy (Jennifer) Lennon. Devoted aunt to Maureen, Barbara, Jacqueline, Robert, Daniel, Noelle, Joseph, Carly, Samantha, James, Thomas, Alyx, Emily, Stephen, Patrick, Tara, Michael, Kelly & Molly. Great-aunt to Morley, Collin, Nolan, Maddie, Catherine, Clare, Rowan, Stephen, Gia and Reagan.
She was a proud resident of Roxbury, Breezy Point. She was the president of the Catholic Club and Vice President of the Roxbury People’s Association. Eileen served on Blessed Trinity Parish Council and was a Eucharistic minister at St. Genevieve’s Church. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Mayors Committee. Eileen was proud to be a flag carrier for the Breezy Point Pipe & Drums. A devoted follower of the Pointers Band and often participated in the Roxbury Mardi Gras, one year as a judge and once as the person who delivered the prayer.
Eileen was a computer teacher with the NYC School System and loved teaching.
She leaves behind many friends and neighbors who will miss her laugh and her smile.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24 from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM and Wednesday, September 25 from 2:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 at Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc., 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 26 at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 204-25 Rockaway Point Blvd., Rockaway Point, NY.
Private cremation to follow.
