Obituary of Marcel Mentor

Marcel Mentor – dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend - passed away in his sleep at Mount Sinai Hospital in Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the age of 93.

Son of late Savant Mentor and late Estile Joma, Marcel was born on September 14th, 1930 in Marfranc, Haiti. He was the youngest of nine siblings: Antoine, Guillaume, Adele, Sylvain, Cecilia, Anna, Dominique and Carmene.

Marcel was preceded to heaven by his beloved wife Germelie Eizabeth Mentor and his son Philippe Reginald Mentor. He is survived by his children Betty Agathe Mentor, Delingcy Mentor Guillaume, Roland Mentor, Mario Mentor and Marcel Junior Mentor; his daughters-in-law Nola Janis Mentor, Mireille Audate Mentor and Gina Jean Pierre; his son-in-law Jean Joseph Guillaume; his grandchildren Marly, Olivier, Fabrice, Marotti, Cedrick and Giovanni; his cousin Medius Clervil; his nephews and nieces; his colleagues and friends.

Marcel was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that he loved his family very much. He was a hard worker, committed and determined to provide for his family and give them the life they deserved. He moved to United States in 1982 and worked for Greenfield Clothiers for more than 25 years. He retired in 2008.

During his retirement years, Marcel’s greatest joys were his family whom he loved spending time with. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.

Marcel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and friend will be sorely missed and forever remembered.

Wake service will be on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home. 3024 Quentin Road Brooklyn, NY 11234, 718-339-8900.

Church service will be on Friday April 5, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 1218 Glenwood Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11230.

Committal service will immediately follow to Canarsie Cemetery.1370 Remsen Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11236.
